Establish Good Hiring Practices

  1. Ask for government issued photo ID to determine legal age. (Passport, driver’s license, provincial identification.)
  2. Discuss limitations and expectations.
  3. Explain how the pay works and what the worker should expect to earn.
  4. Answer any questions the worker has about policies or pay.
  5. If you do not hire (or if you fire) someone and they ask you why – tell them honestly in a respectful manner. Example: “I’m sorry but I’m looking for someone with larger breasts.” We can take the truth easier than wondering what it was that turned you off.
